UJ Engineering Hosts Workshop on AI-Powered Arabic Dialect Conversion Project

On July 8th, the School of Engineering at the University of Jordan hosted a workshop to showcase a research project aimed at converting Jordanian Colloquial Arabic into Modern Standard Arabic using AI and machine learning. Funded by the Scientific Research and Innovation Support Fund with a 30,000 JD grant, the project is led by Prof. Gheith Abandah and involves faculty from the Departments of Computer Engineering and Arabic Language. The team presented custom datasets, smart mobile applications, and a linguistic database designed to support accurate dialect-to-MSA transformation. The event concluded with a discussion highlighting the project’s importance and suggestions for future development.
