The Irfan Council – Mevlevi Museum in Antalya

Dr. Bayram, a professor at Akdeniz University's Faculty of Theology, will give a talk to the Council titled "The Poet and the Caliphate / The Love of Poetry: The Love of the Prince of Poets, Ahmed Shawqi, for Sultan Abdul Hamid and the Caliphate." The talk examines literary and historical facets of the Caliphate's role in contemporary Arabic poetry as well as Sultan Abdul Hamid II's impact on Ahmed Shawqi's sensitivities, including the artistic, intellectual, and political aspects of his writings. The public is welcome to attend the event, which is scheduled for September 23 at 8:00 PM. It provides an opportunity to learn about an academic perspective that links contemporary Arabic poetry to Ottoman history in an environment that combines knowledge and spirituality.
