​Dr. Sumaya Daoud has joined the Department of English Language and Literature as for the biginning of the academic year 2024/2025. She received her PhD in English Language and Linguistics from Purdue University, USA. She worked as an assistant professor at Al Ain University and held several leadership positions, including General Education Director and Deputy Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences. She has several publications with hundreds of citations in reputable journals. Her research interests include sociolinguistics, pragmatics, and language education. She served on committees for international and local accreditations. She is deeply committed to  environmental advocacy and has led numerous initiatives related to sustainability and climate change.​
