The Bioanalysis and Biomarker Discovery (BBD) Recent Notable Achievements

The Bioanalysis and Biomarker Discovery (BBD) Research Group at the University of Jordan is pleased to highlight a series of recent notable accomplishments and impactful achievements:

  • International Representation:
The group was prominently represented at DUPHAT 2025, where Dr. Shereen Aleidi and Dr. Yasser Bustanji delivered distinguished oral presentations on cutting-edge research in metabolomic biomarker discovery, focusing on gestational diabetes and obesity, respectively.
  • Securing Research Grant:
The group has been awarded a JD 15,000 research grant from the Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation to support a high-impact project on Alzheimer's disease diagnosis, utilizing integrated microRNA, proteomics, and metabolomics platforms.
  • Scientific Publication (2025):
Postgraduate students, supervised by Dr. Refat Nimer and Dr. Lina Dahabiyeh, published a research article on hypoxia-associated biomarkers in colorectal cancer in the journal Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis a Q1 journal in the field of biomedical analysis. Other student published a research article on the potential anticancer activity of atorvastatin using integrated omics approach in Pharmacia (Q2)
  • Capacity Building and Training:
As part of the group's ongoing development efforts, Dr. Lina Dahabiyeh and research assistant Maha Rashed participated in the Clinical Applications of Mass Spectrometry Workshop 2024, held at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC), Riyadh. Organized by Dr. Anas Abdulrahman, the workshop provided advanced training in the clinical application of mass spectrometry technologies.
