​Dr. Ghofran Hilal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Jordan. She held the position of Assistant Dean for Quality and Development Affairs and Assistant Dean for Students and Alumni Affairs. Dr. Hilal holds a PhD in Public International Law from the University of Lyon and a master's degree in human Rights from the same University. She published several research papers and articles in Arabic, French and English and participated in several scientific conferences and seminars in Japan, Cambodia, the United States of America and other. She is a licensed lawyer before regular and Sharia courts in Jordan. She is an Echenberg Fellow from the Center for Human Rights and Legal Pluralism at McGill University, and a member of the Young Arab Policy Analysts Network (YAANI) affiliated with Chatham House. Her field of expertise is Human Rights, Gender Studies and International Humanitarian Law. Working languages are Arabic, English & French.
