Dr. Marwan Al-Taher is a senior consultant in physical medicine and rehabilitation with over 30 years of experience in clinical care, health policy, and medical education in Jordan. He currently holds dual leadership positions as the Head of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Specialty at the Ministry of Health and as the Head of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Al-Bashir Hospital—the largest public hospital in Jordan.
Dr. Al-Taher holds the Jordanian Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has also passed the Italian curriculum examination in the field. He earned his medical degree in General Medicine and Surgery from Italy. Throughout his career, he has been deeply committed to improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities, leading national efforts to upgrade rehabilitation services and enhance healthcare accessibility and equity.
His previous roles include Consultant at King Hussein Medical Center (Spinal Cord Unit), general practitioner, medical resident in various disciplines, and academic lecturer at both Al-Balqa’ Applied University and the University of Jordan. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and Italian, and has international training, including a 4-month course in Traditional Chinese Medicine in China and specialized training in the BIODEX System in Turkey.
Dr. Al-Taher is a strong advocate for research-based advancement in rehabilitation services. His active involvement in national and international conferences, coupled with publications on rehabilitation interventions such as jumper’s knee and spasticity treatment, make him a valued contributor to the Prosthetics and Orthotics Healthcare Quality Research Group.
