Dr. Anthony McGarry is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. In his role, he serves as the Director of the MSc in Prosthetics and Orthotics program, where he integrates engineering principles with clinical applications to advance prosthetic and orthotic education.

Dr. McGarry's research interests include gait analysis, rehabilitation, and the development of innovative prosthetic technologies. He has contributed to studies on vision-based motion capture for gait analysis in neurodegenerative diseases and the creation of 3D-printed cosmetic covers for lower limb prosthetics. His work emphasizes enhancing patient outcomes through technological advancements in prosthetic design and functionality.


Recognized for his contributions to the field, Dr. McGarry was a runner-up in the Converge Challenge Competition and received the University of Strathclyde Inspire 100 award in 2024. He also led the PCAD project, focusing on prosthetic CAD shape capture in a weight-bearing environment, aiming to improve the accuracy and comfort of prosthetic fittings.

Beyond his research and teaching responsibilities, Dr. McGarry actively collaborates with industry partners to enhance prosthetics and orthotics education. He organized courses in consultation with practitioners, providing students with insights into contemporary challenges and advancements in the field.
