1st ISPO Arabic Regional Congress

The 1st ISPO Arabic Regional Congress for Prosthetics and Orthotics, held at the Royal Hotel in Amman, Jordan, marked a landmark event in the Arab region. Organized by the United Arab Society for P&O (UASPO) in cooperation with the Jordanian National Society for P&O (JONSPO) and supported by ISPO International, the congress aimed to stimulate, promote, and disseminate multidisciplinary regional exchanges to improve the quality and accessibility of prosthetic, orthotic, and assistive technology services.

The congress focused on the full spectrum of professionals involved in mobility device provision—including prostheses, orthoses, wheelchairs, and rehabilitation services—ensuring that individuals with mobility impairments can lead healthy, independent, productive, and dignified lives.

As part of the Jordanian scientific delegation, Dr. Mahmoud Alfatafta, along with my esteemed colleagues Dr. Bashar Alqaroot and Dr. Amneh Alshawabka, were honored to play a central role in the scientific program. Each of us delivered a presentation on our respective areas of expertise and also served as session moderators and chairs, facilitating dynamic discussions, introducing international speakers, and engaging with delegates from across the region.

The congress featured high-level participation, including the Osseointegration International Group, led by Prof. Munjed Al Muderis, which added significant value to the scientific and clinical discourse.

Our active involvement in this regional congress reflects our ongoing commitment to advancing prosthetic and orthotic care in Jordan and across the Arab world, through evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional development.
