Abstract

The essence of international efforts towards climate change is to limit the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases to avoid irreversible future scenarios on the ecosystem. In this context, and as an augmentation to the efforts of the scientific community to develop efficient CO sorbents using economically viable and technically feasible approaches, the Jordanian CO Team (JCO2T) have reported on CO capturing and utilization by tuning the chemical structure of a wide range of biorenewable such as chitin/chitosan, cyclodextrin, ascorbic acid, caffeine, curcumin and histidine, to improve their performance towards the titled application. In this presentation, more focus will be directed to the mechanism of CO capturing in non-aqueous medium and its conversion into cyclic carbonate experimentally and theoretically, to ultimately achieve more benign working conditions, upon following a holistic approach to provide better understanding of CO research and its challenges.
