"Towards Pioneering Studies and Research in Islamic Economics and Its Objectives." Symposium



AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy, in collaboration with the Faculty of Sharia at the University of Jordan, organized a scientific symposium titled: "Towards Pioneering Studies and Research in Islamic Economics and Its Objectives."

under the patronage of H.E. Professor Dr. Nadhir Obaidat, President of the University, with participation from a distinguished group of professors, deans, researchers, and university students.

The symposium discussed ways to develop scientific research in Islamic economics, with a focus on identifying priority topics that serve the needs of Islamic financial institutions.

In his opening speech, Prof. Obaidat noted that the promotion of Islamic economics in past decades has been characterized by emotional and cultural identity aspects, which hindered its development into a comprehensive economic system. He emphasized the necessity of leveraging Islamic finance to support sustainable development and climate goals.

On his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Kilani, stressed that enhancing the quality of scientific research is a religious, ethical, and academic duty, calling for its linkage to real-world issues.

The symposium also witnessed the launch of the Saleh Kamel Islamic Economy Award for the first time in Jordan, aiming to promote research and innovation in this field, Dr. Fadi Al-Jabour, explained that it is the only global award honoring young researchers annually, with a total value of one million riyals.

Additionally, the event included a scientific session chaired by Dr. Muhammad Al-Talafha, discussing several research themes, along with a workshop entitled: "Towards Activating the Objectives of Islamic Economics in Contemporary Societies."
