About:
Dr. Nusairat, ​Geotechnical Group Manager at E. L. Robinson , earned his Ph.D. from The University of Akron in 1999 and has nearly 30 years of experience in geotechnical and structural engineering. His work spans complex foundation systems, engineered earthwork, and subsurface characterization for major infrastructure projects. He has led numerous design-build, value engineering, and research efforts and is recognized for his expertise in instrumentation, full-scale testing, and long-term monitoring of deep foundations and landslides.

His technical strengths include the design of deep foundations for long-span and signature bridges, retaining wall systems, ground anchors, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability, dam engineering, laboratory testing of geomaterials, and seismic analysis. He has also contributed to national guidance documents through his service on FHWA review teams for GEC-9 and the updated GEC-10 manuals.

Dr. Nusairat has served on several TRB committees, including Bridge Substructures (AKG70) and Soil and Rock Properties (AFP30), and he is currently a member of the Transportation Earthworks Committee (AKG50). He has held adjunct faculty positions at The University of Akron, the University of Dayton, and now Case Western Reserve University. His research includes co-leading Ohio DOT’s pile setup study, and he has over 15 years of experience teaching drilled shaft design and inspection courses. He is currently assisting ARA in developing a web-based FHWA training course on laterally loaded deep foundations.
