University of Jordan Teams Shine at Fintech Rally 2025, Winning First and Third Places in Innovation Category

Two teams from the University of Jordan achieved a remarkable accomplishment by winning the first and third places in the Ideas Category at the "Fintech Rally 2025: Universities Edition" hackathon, organized by the Jordanian Company for Payment and Clearing Systems (JoPACC), with the participation of 30 teams from 11 Jordanian universities.

The "Finovate" team won first place, consisting of students: Lynn Al-Sheikh from the School of Business, and Bana Al-Shanawani, Ahmad Al-Momani, and Majed Ziyad Harzallah from the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology, under the supervision of Dr. Reem Al-Fayez. The team presented an innovative idea that integrates inheritance distribution for beneficiaries with a smart wallet system, in addition to consolidating bank accounts into a unified application that simplifies financial management for users.

The third place was awarded to the "Finity" team, which includes students: Hashem Shtait, Karam Ze’al Mahmoud Al-Areenat, and Abdullah Omar from the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology, and Bara’a Hammad from the School of Business, under the supervision of Dr. Abdelbaset Assaf. The team developed a smart application called "Tap It", which enables peer-to-peer money transfers using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology by simply tapping two phones together, eliminating the need for traditional procedures or complex data entry.

Another team also participated, consisting of students: Kasab Fakhoury from the School of Engineering, Mohammad Hamdan from the School of Business, and Abdulrahman Musalha, Sidra Al-Aliemat, and Abdulhadi Za'tar from the King Abdullah II School of Information Technology, supervised by Dr. Mohammad Mashaqbeh, Head of the Mechatronics Engineering Department at the University of Jordan.
This team showcased their entrepreneurial idea and competed alongside the participating teams.

In representation of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center and to activate its role in supporting and guiding students in entrepreneurial competitions, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, Assistant Director of the Center, participated as a mentor for all participating teams to ensure the technical support and guidance needed for students during such challenges.

This achievement highlights the ongoing efforts of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at the University of Jordan, which aims to support student creativity and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship through technical mentorship, workshops, incubation programs, and the provision of entrepreneurial opportunities both inside and outside the university—contributing to enhancing students' skills and preparing them for the job market.
