There are grwoing numbers of women in Jordan who are still virgins due to many different causes including social, financial and cultural changes. The fibroid prevalence is increased with increasing age. These women with fibroids and still virgins are difficult to manage in a conservative society. They are subjected to heavy bleeding, anemia, frequent hospital admissions and blood transfusions with subsequent economic, health and social consequences. Many of them end up with devastating medically unnecessary  traditional abdominal hysterectomy.

Our research aims to increase awareness of these socities of the avilablilty of hysteroscopic surgery and the availability of new small devices that can be introduced through the hymenal opening, the vagina, the cervix and then into the uterine cavity and most lesions as fibroids and polyps can be removed then. This type of surgery is safe and feasible without damaging or harming the hymen.
