Dr. Rima participated in the 31st EurOMA International Conference - Spain

Assistant Professor of Operations and Innovation Management, Assistant Dean for Quality Affairs at the School of Business, Dr. Rima Al Hasan, recently participated in the 31st European Operations Management Association (EurOMA) Conference held in Barcelona from July 1st to July 3rd, 2024.

Al Hasan presented a paper, titled: "Navigating the Sustainability-Resilience Paradox in Innovation Ecosystems," a significant part of a collaborative research project she is conducting with esteemed colleagues from the UK, Spain, and Germany. This project delves into the complexities of innovation ecosystems, focusing on the balance between sustainability and resilience, a topic of increasing importance in today's rapidly evolving business landscape.

Established in 1993, EurOMA is an international network of academics and practitioners who share a common interest in the continuing development of Operations Management. The EurOMA conference, renowned for its emphasis on operations and supply chain management, attracted over 500 papers and participants from across the globe, providing a vibrant platform for academics, practitioners, and industry leaders to exchange ideas, insights, and advancements in the field. 

Al Hasan's research project was among the selected works to receive the early career grant from the European Operations Management Association in 2023, underscoring the project's innovative approach and significance in the field. She also received the “Chris Voss Best Paper Award” at the EurOMA conference in 2021. 

In addition to her presentation, Al Hasan engaged in various conference activities, including networking with journal editors and esteemed scholars to gather valuable feedback on her research, which is pivotal for refining the study and contributing to the broader academic discourse.

Commenting on Al Hasan’s participation in this conference, the Dean of the School, Prof. Raed Masadeh Bani Yaseen, stated that it is important for faculty members to participate in international conferences, noting that it enhances international cooperation and the university's ranking and contributes to creating an environment that supports research and excellence.​
