The Health Economics and Health Policy Research Group is committed to advancing evidence-based policymaking through economic evaluation, statistical analysis, and real-world data research. We utilize a range of analytical tools, including SPSS, STATA, R, and TreeAge, to conduct cost-effectiveness analysis, healthcare expenditure studies, and policy impact assessments.
A key focus of our research is leveraging real-world evidence (RWE) to assess healthcare access, efficiency, and financial sustainability, particularly in areas such as universal health coverage, pharmaceutical pricing, and healthcare financing models. By analyzing national health surveys, insurance claims data, hospital records, and socioeconomic datasets, we evaluate treatment affordability, the economic burden of diseases, and the impact of policy reforms on public health outcomes.
Databases and analytical tool
We have access to longitudinal utilization population data on Jordan (2018-2022) from Hakeem. a nationwide electronic health record (EHR) system that tracks patient-level data across various healthcare settings. This resource allows for in-depth analysis of healthcare service utilization patterns, patient trajectories, and the long-term impact of healthcare interventions. Hakeem is a vital tool for monitoring patient outcomes, identifying gaps in healthcare access, and improving decision-making processes in the Jordanian healthcare system.
Additionally, we maintain a 10-year retrospective cohort data on diabetic patients and patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), providing valuable insights into disease progression, treatment effectiveness, and healthcare resource utilization. providing valuable insights into disease progression, treatment effectiveness, healthcare resource utilization, and long-term clinical outcomes. By utilizing real-world evidence, we assess both clinical outcomes (such as treatment efficacy, patient morbidity, and mortality) and economic outcomes (including costs associated with different treatment modalities). This research enables us to better understand treatment pathways, patient adherence, and the overall burden of disease on healthcare systems, informing more cost-effective and patient-centered healthcare strategies.
Further to this, the group maintain comprehensive datasets on healthcare costs, health insurance utilization, and economic indicators, supporting collaborations with both national and international researchers.
We warmly invite researchers, policymakers, and healthcare professionals to engage with us and explore the wealth of resources we have available. In addition to our extensive local datasets, we are open to collaborating and exchanging data with international partners, sharing insights from diverse healthcare settings and countries. By working together, we can expand the scope of our research, enrich our understanding of global health challenges, and contribute to the development of best practices across borders. We look forward to partnering with you to advance evidence-based decision-making, drive meaningful change in healthcare policy, and improve the well-being of communities worldwide.

Members of our research group focuses on promoting health economics and outcomes research in Arabic-speaking countries and have contributed to the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) publication in Arabic language, "Health Care Cost, Quality, and Outcomes: ISPOR Book of Terms." This comprehensive glossary of terms is a key resource in health economics and outcomes research.
