Partnerships

The Groundwater Resources Management Research Group facilitates strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to advance impactful research and innovation. The research group thrives on dynamic and interactive partnerships that foster collaboration, data sharing, and problem-solving. These relationships go beyond traditional cooperation, involving continuous engagement to address urgent groundwater challenges and support sustainable resource management. Below is an overview of the partnerships and their interactive nature:

Ministry of Water and Irrigation

The Ministry is a key partner, providing essential groundwater and hydrological data while consulting with the research group on policy development and management strategies. The group supports the Ministry by offering expert analysis, conducting studies, and developing solutions to address urgent water scarcity and quality issues.

Ministry of Environment

The collaboration involves mutual support in monitoring environmental impacts on groundwater resources. The Ministry shares environmental datasets and policy frameworks, while the research group advises mitigating pollution risks and implementing sustainable groundwater practices.

Ministry of Agriculture

This partnership focuses on tackling the impacts of agricultural practices on groundwater. The Ministry provides data on irrigation and land use, while the research group delivers recommendations to optimise water use, reduce agricultural runoff, and enhance soil-water management practices.

Scientific Research Support Fund (SRSF)

SRSF funds research projects and collaborates with the group to identify priority areas for groundwater studies.

International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

IUCN works closely with the research group on conservation-focused projects. It supplies ecological and biodiversity data, while the group contributes groundwater assessments to ensure ecosystem sustainability, particularly in areas with critical groundwater-dependent habitats.

European Union (EU)

The EU supports the research group through funding and policy alignment. In return, the group offers expertise in groundwater modeling, pollution mitigation, and resource optimization to align with European environmental standards.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

USAID engages the research group in addressing urgent community-level groundwater issues. The group provides technical support for water management projects, designs mitigation plans for groundwater depletion, and builds local capacity for sustainable practices.

Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN)

The partnership involves collaborative efforts to protect groundwater-dependent ecosystems. RSCN shares ecological data and conservation priorities, while the research group supports it by analyzing groundwater impacts and designing strategies to safeguard biodiversity.

Collaboration in Action:

These partnerships exemplify a two-way relationship where the research group works as a consultant, delivering scientific analyses, tailored solutions, and capacity-building. In turn, partners provide critical data, resources, and practical insights. Together, this network addresses pressing groundwater issues, promotes sustainable practices, and supports informed decision-making to manage Jordan’s water resources effectively.
