About:

Dr. Shatanawi is a highly motivated hydraulics and hydrology engineer. He has gained over 20 years of experience in hydraulic and hydrologic engineering and research. He has a M.Sc. and PhD degree from Clemson University in the USA. His expertise includes climate change, stormwater and drinking water network management, hydraulics and hydrology, pavement materials and crumb rubber modified binder. Dr Shatanawi has developed a computer model to predict scour at bridge abutments under the 100-year​ flow. He has worked as an active member in many international projects in Jordan in cooperation with European countries. He has diverse experience as a projects team leader in the United States and Jordan. Dr. Shatanawi is currently the Head of the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Jordan. He takes responsibility for the academic, research, facilities and financial affairs of the Department; provides effective leadership and direction through a process of shared governance; strategic planning; management of human, financial and physical resources; and supervision of the Department's compliance with the University standards and policies. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the field of hydrology and other water related topics at the University of Jordan. He also advises several graduate students.
