 Title:

Spectrophotometric determination of Dopamine using KI and KIO₃ via charge transfer complex formations

Untitled1.jpg

Dopamine, a crucial neurotransmitter in the human brain, is involved in numerous physiological processes, including mood regulation, motor control, and reward pathways. Its ability to undergo redox reactions and form charge-transfer complexes with various chemical species makes it a valuable subject of study in both biological and synthetic chemistry. Understanding the interactions of dopamine with other reagents is essential for unraveling its behavior in complex biological systems and for developing sensitive analytical techniques. Potassium iodide (KI) and potassium iodate (KIO₃) are well-known chemical reagents that can participate in charge-transfer reactions, particularly with electronrich compounds like dopamine. KI is commonly used in redox reactions, while KIO₃ is an oxidizing agent, often utilized for its ability to facilitate electron transfer processes. When combined with dopamine, both KI and KIO₃ can induce the formation of charge-transfer complexes, which exhibit distinct optical properties that can be analyzed spectrophotometrically. Spectrophotometry is an ideal technique for investigating
