About:

Prof. Dr. Najma Memon is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Analytical Chemistry, currently serving as a Professor at the National Centre of Excellence in Analytical Chemistry (NCEAC), University of Sindh, Jamshoro, Pakistan. With over two decades of teaching and research experience, she has significantly contributed to the fields of environmental and food analysis, water remediation, and the development of advanced functional materials.
Dr. Memon began her academic career as a Lecturer and Research Associate at NCEAC in 2000. Through dedication and scholarly excellence, she rose through the academic ranks—serving as Assistant Professor (2006–2012), Associate Professor (2012–2017), and was appointed as a full Professor in 2017. She also contributed as Visiting Faculty at the U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water (USPCAS-W) at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, from 2017 to 2018.
She earned her Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Sindh in 2005, with research focused on spectroscopic and chromatographic determination of analytical species using organized assemblies. She further expanded her research horizons through a postdoctoral fellowship at Wake Forest University, USA (2006–2008), where she worked on the preparation and characterization of reverse micelle organogels for analytical applications.
Prof. Memon’s research interests span a wide range of interdisciplinary topics, including the synthesis of novel carbon-based materials for water purification and energy storage, development of green solid-acid catalysts, and production of hydrochar and layered double hydroxide (LDH) composites from biowaste. She is also actively engaged in food quality analysis, pharmaceutical formulation studies, and the development of molecularly imprinted and inorganic coordination polymers.
Her expertise lies in advanced chromatographic techniques, microporosity measurements, and the design of fit-for-purpose materials for sustainable technologies. She has a strong research record in biodiesel production, enzyme immobilization, and the synthesis of non-metallic quantum dots with potential applications in environmental and energy sectors.
As a committed educator and researcher, Prof. Dr. Najma Memon continues to mentor students, collaborate with international researchers, and contribute meaningfully to scientific innovation and sustainable development.
