The Experimental Syntax Research Group uses a range of tools in the pursuit of its research into the complexities of natural language syntax. This includes access to large linguistic corpora for cross-linguistic analysis and experimental software like PsychoPy for running acceptability judgment and sentence completion tasks; statistical tools like R are also used for data analysis. The studies are tested by these participant pools, which adhere to a very strict code of ethics. They then include all the experimental data within the prevailing theoretical frameworks in syntax and formal grammar by use of tools such as linguistic software and journals that bridge abstract theory into observable linguistic behavior. They also depend on funding and grants to sustain their research activities and remain up to date in their contributions to the discipline.
