Faruk Akkuş is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania (2021), where his dissertation focused on argument introduction, voice, and causatives. He also earned an MA in Linguistics from Yale University (2016) and a BA in Translation and Interpreting Studies from Boğaziçi University. His research interests include argument structure, case and agreement systems, speech act structure, and language contact, particularly in Turkish, Semitic, and Iranian languages. Faruk has published widely, including forthcoming work on the syntax of Sorani Kurdish. Additionally, he is actively involved in teaching courses on syntax, semantics, and historical linguistics, and has conducted fieldwork on various languages, including Sason Arabic and Cherokee.
