Thesis title: MAXIMUM OVERLAPPING DISCRETE WAVELET METHODS FOR MODELLING THE SAUDI STOCK EXCHANGE
The results of the thesis show that the Saudi Stock Exchange Market witnessed high volatility in some periods. The returns of the market show non-normal distribution indicating the high volatility among returns. The highest volatility of close prices and returns was recorded in 2015 and 2016. The GARCH (1,1) model was the best model used to measure the volatility. The instability was inspected and displayed using MODWT based on capability BL14. The hybrid method was the best method to reach the forecasting for the close prices and returns in Tadawul Stock Exchange Market (TSEM). The study recommended that the GARCH model based on normal distribution was the best to measure the volatility and that the hybrid method is the best method that can be used for forecasting.
