Student Research

Our group is deeply committed to advancing knowledge through comprehensive research projects, involving both undergraduate and graduate students. Below, we highlight some of our key contributions to student research and their remarkable impact:

1. Collaborative Undergraduate Research Achievements

  • "A Universal Tool for Estimating Monthly Solar Radiation on Tilted Surfaces from Horizontal Measurements: A Machine Learning Approach"
This significant study was conducted in collaboration with former undergraduate students Bilal Rinchi and Raghad Dababseh. The research presents an innovative machine learning methodology to estimate solar radiation, contributing valuable insights to renewable energy solutions. The work was published in Energy Conversion and Management (DOI: 10.1016/j.enconman.2024.118703).

  • Undergraduate Graduation Project: Solar-Powered Air Conditioning

This project transitioned from a hands-on student project to a published research article, showcasing the practical application of solar technology. The study, titled "Experimental Evaluation of a Solar-Powered Air Conditioner," published in Solar Energy (DOI: 10.1016/j.solener.2024.112466), emphasizing the importance of sustainable HVAC solutions.

2. Graduate Research Excellence

  • "The Potential of Agrivoltaic Systems in Jordan"

Graduate student Mohammed E.B. Abdalla led novel research examining the integration of solar power and agriculture in Jordan. This work, highlighting the dual benefits of energy generation and enhanced agricultural productivity, was published in Applied Energy (DOI: 10.1016/j.apenergy.2024.123841).

3. Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Involvement

Our students actively participate in the AEE University of Jordan Chapter, promoting energy awareness and facilitating collaboration on energy projects. This engagement provides students with a platform for networking, skill development, and real-world applications of their academic learning.

  • 50 Volunteers from AEE’s Jordan University Student Chapter Support the 6th GCREEDER
The AEE Jordan University Student Chapter worked night and day to support the 6th Global Conference on Renewables and Energy Efficiency for Desert Regions (GCREEDER-2018) that was held April 3-5, 2018 in Amman, Jordan. The Opening Ceremony was held under the patronage of HRH Prince Hamzah Bin Al Hussein. Opening session speakers included Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Prof. Ahmed Al-Salaymeh, and President of the University of Jordan, Prof. Azmi Mahafzah, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh A. Al-Kharabsheh. The conference was attended by several hundred people from 24 countries, over the full three days. It had three parallel sessions at the same time. An exhibition was also running throughout the duration of the conference. In addition, poster presentations for the energy students graduation projects were also displayed.
