Bio: Dr. Sahban Alnaser has more than 18 years of combined industry and academic experience in the electrical power and energy field. His expertise lies in the planning and operation of electricity distribution networks, with a focus on the integration of renewable energy, electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and demand response into the grid. Currently, Dr. Alnaser serves as an Associate Professor of Electrical Power and Energy Systems in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Jordan. In addition, he is a consultant for the University of Jordan’s 16 MW solar PV project. His consultancy work has been instrumental in advancing the adoption of smart metering and time-of-use tariffs in Jordan's electricity sector and facilitating the country's transition towards electric mobility. Dr. Alnaser has also led an industry-academia research project funded by the UK Royal Academy of Engineering. This project assessed the role of energy storage and smart grid technologies in integrating solar PV into power grids. Before joining the University of Jordan, Dr. Alnaser worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Network Integration of PV and Storage at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Manchester (formerly UMIST), UK. From 2005 to 2011, he served as a consultant and head of power system studies with the Electricity Distribution Company (EDCO) in Jordan. Dr. Alnaser's extensive experience and contributions to the field highlights his role in advancing sustainable energy systems and innovative power grid solutions.
