Bio: Dr. Firas M. Sharaf is an experienced Associate Professor with a demonstrated history of working in the research industry, particularly focusing on sustainability and urban planning. His recent research focuses on localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is crucial for their effective implementation. Dr. Sharaf aims to define and measure sustainability at the local level by tailoring strategies to the specific contexts and challenges of cities and local communities. This approach enables the identification of priorities, efficient resource allocation, and tracking progress towards achieving the SDGs. Dr. Sharaf is skilled in sustainability, research, sustainable design, urban design, and architectural design. He holds a PhD in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning from Oxford Brookes University. In addition to his academic expertise, Dr. Sharaf has extensive experience in organizing conferences at the University of Jordan. His responsibilities have included drafting conference documents and advocacy plans, managing invitations and registrations, coordinating logistics for visas and flights, organizing break-out sessions and plenary panels, and drafting final workshop outcome documents. His broad skill set and commitment to advancing sustainable urban development make him a leading figure in the field.
