Hussein, and organized by the Jordanian Nursing Council, Minister of Health Dr. Feras Al-Hawari inaugurated last Thursday the Fourth Nursing Policy Forum, titled “Toward a Safer Future: Emergency and Disaster Preparedness for a More Effective Response,” held at the Mövenpick Hotel Amman. The event was attended by the Council’s Secretary-General, Dr. Hani Al-Nawafleh.
The forum welcomed high-level international and local delegations, including the Health Adviser to the President of Romania, Dr. Diana Paun; President of the University of Jordan, Dr. Nathir Obeidat; the University’s Vice President for Quality and Accreditation, Dr. Inaam Khalaf; several deans of nursing faculties from various universities; the President of the Jordan Nurses and Midwives Council; a delegation from the Royal Medical Services; and the President of the Private Hospitals Association.
As part of the forum’s activities, Dr. Amer Hasnaien, Chair of the Emergency Nursing Specialty Committee at the Jordanian Nursing Council, participated as a keynote speaker in a roundtable session alongside:
In his address, Dr. Hasnaien discussed the scope of practice, standards, and competencies of the Emergency Nursing specialty in Jordan, highlighting the comprehensive document developed by the specialty committee.
He also reviewed the national direction toward adopting “precision” in nursing practice as a progressive approach beyond competency-based practice, and emphasized granting master’s-level emergency nursing specialists the authority to prescribe specific medications listed explicitly in the Emergency Nursing Scope of Practice document.
Dr. Hasnaien affirmed that through advancing the Emergency Nursing specialty, “we aim for Jordan not only to catch up with global developments, but to move one step ahead of its competitors—if not globally, then at least regionally and within its sphere of influence.
