Jamla Rizek is a senior clinical nurse and public health expert with over 19 years of experience in emergency nursing, disaster response, and global health engagement. Holding advanced degrees including a DNP, MBA, RN, she is certified in emergency and pediatric emergency nursing, as well as disaster preparedness. She is a Fellow in the Academy in Emergency Nursing (FAEN) and the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). Her research focuses on culturally responsive care in emergencies, compassion fatigue among healthcare workers, and health equity in underserved populations. Rizek has contributed to international humanitarian efforts and has been recognized with multiple awards for her leadership and innovation in public health. As a faculty member at Harvard Medical School's Disaster Medicine Fellowship where she mentors future leaders in disaster medicine and public health. Her editorial contributions and advocacy for inclusive healthcare practices have made her a respected voice in the field.
