​Dr. Akiko Yamamoto is a Managing Researcher at the Center for Macromolecules and Biomaterials, National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Japan, where she leads research in the Bioceramics Group, focusing on biomaterials and biocompatibility evaluation. Her expertise lies in developing and evaluating biodegradable metallic materials, including magnesium and titanium alloys, for biomedical applications. Dr. Yamamoto’s extensive contributions to biomaterials research include numerous publications and collaborative projects that advance the understanding of material performance in biological environments. She is also active in mentoring students through the International Cooperative Graduate Program at NIMS.​
