Dr. Clayton, a native of New Orleans, has been a member of the faculty at Texas A&M University since 1995. During his tenure, he has served as Executive Associate Dean of the School of Architecture and as Interim Head of the Department of Architecture. Prior to joining Texas A&M, he taught at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) from 1988 to 1991.

His research interests encompass architectural design, computational design, Building Information Modeling (BIM), parametric modeling, digital fabrication, facility management, information technology, and sustainable design.
