The Cystic Fibrosis Research Group at the University of Jordan, despite its recent establishment, has already made significant strides at both the national and international levels. The group has actively engaged in numerous television meetings aimed at raising public awareness about cystic fibrosis (CF) and has conducted educational lectures with international medical professionals to further this mission.
One of the group's notable achievements is its involvement in the creation and launch of the National CF Registry, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health—a critical step in improving CF care and monitoring in Jordan.
Another significant achievement of the University of Jordan Cystic Fibrosis Research Group is the recent allocation of Jordan University Hospital (JUH) as a pilot study site for nutritional rehabilitation in cystic fibrosis. This initiative, supported by the CF Care Global Initiative, marks a crucial step in improving nutritional management and outcomes for CF patients in Jordan. The pilot study aims to assess the effectiveness of targeted nutritional interventions and develop localized guidelines tailored to the needs of CF patients in the region. This recognition highlights the growing role of JUH as a center for CF research and care, further strengthening efforts to enhance multidisciplinary CF management in Jordan.
Looking ahead, the group is preparing to launch research projects that will investigate CFTR gene mutations in the Jordanian population, with a focus on understanding phenotypic variations associated with these genetic differences.
Through these efforts, the group aspires to contribute valuable insights to the global understanding of cystic fibrosis while enhancing patient care within Jordan.
