Particpation at launching CF registry
Thursday, March 7, 2024
Under the patronage of the Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, the Ministry of Health launched an electronic national registry for cystic fibrosis patients.
The launch of the registry came as a result of joint efforts in which the Ministry of Health cooperated with representatives from various health sectors in the country, including members of the Jordanian Pediatric Chest Group , and the Jordanian society of pediatric gastreoenterology, hepatology, and nutrition (JOSPGHAN) , which culminated in the launch of the registry. This was represented by the participation of the groups members in the national committees formed by the Ministry of Health to develop instructions and protocols for diagnosing, treating and following up on cystic fibrosis and to establish the national registry for cystic fibrosis.
It is worth noting that the establishment of the registry aims to create a nucleus for institutionalizing the development and computerization of genetic and rare disease records, to form a comprehensive database that provides healthcare providers, researchers and decision-makers with data that contributes to directing preventive and therapeutic programs for patients, including estimating the burden of the disease, and for this database to contribute to unifying healthcare paths between various health institutions, and improving their quality based on the latest scientific evidence.
*His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Firas Al-Hawari, presented honorary awards to the members of the Pediatric Chest Physicians Group and JOSPGHAN who participated in the project in appreciation of their distinguished qualitative efforts. The Head of Pediatrics at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Basem Al-Zoubi, also presented a summary of the first national report on cystic fibrosis patients in Jordan for the year 2022, in which he indicated that the number of patients who were identified amounted to 385 cystic fibrosis patients, including 136 patients in the capital, Amman, and 100 patients in Irbid Governorate, while the remaining patients were distributed across the various governorates of the Kingdom.
