University of Jordan Officially Launches the Cystic Fibrosis Research Group

The University of Jordan has officially launched the University of Jordan Cystic Fibrosis Research Group (UJ-CF Research Group) as a specialized, multidisciplinary initiative dedicated to advancing the understanding, diagnosis, and management of cystic fibrosis in Jordan and the region.

The group brings together a diverse team of national and international experts in pediatric gastroenterology, pulmonology, genetics, physiology, nutrition, and public health, working collaboratively to improve the quality of care and outcomes for individuals living with cystic fibrosis.

The UJ-CF Research Group focuses on studying CFTR gene mutations among Jordanian patients, improving early diagnostic strategies, and addressing the respiratory and gastrointestinal manifestations of the disease while accounting for environmental and cultural influences on disease severity and treatment response. Key research areas also include evaluating the availability and effectiveness of CFTR modulator therapies, assessing nutritional status and growth patterns in affected children, and exploring inflammatory biomarkers linked to disease progression.

Through strong international collaboration, translational research, and evidence-based clinical initiatives, the UJ-CF Research Group aims to contribute to the development of more effective treatment protocols and to enhance the quality of life of cystic fibrosis patients locally and regionally.

This official launch marks an important milestone in strengthening cystic fibrosis research, education, and patient-centered care at the University of Jordan.
