Achievements

What characterizes our group is its collaborative context between scholars in the fields of arts and science; Philosophy, Arabic language and literature, Computer Information Systems and Information Technology, which may facilitate interaction and sustainable engagement with current human security challenges facing our digitized world today. Hence, we have distinguished professors in conversation over the research theme thus stated. We claim that combining Arts and Sciences would lead to the production of a better research.

Our group contains International experts in their own right in Arts and Sciences:

Professor Terence Kleven is the Jacob and Gela Schnucker Sessler Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Central College, Iowa, USA. Prof. Terence Kleven participated in more than 17 conferences and published more than 30 academic paper. A Visiting Professor at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin (2019-20); Professor of Religion, Central College, Pella, Iowa, USA (1996-present, currently on sabbatical); Moore Family Foundation Grants (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2013); Fulbright Research Scholar, Centre Louis Pouzet pour d'étude des civilizations anciennes et médiévales, Bibliothèque Orientale, l'Université Saint-Joseph, Beirut. Kleven is the recipient of two Fulbright Scholarships; the first allowed him to study in Beirut, Lebanon at Centre Louis Pouzet pour d'étude des civilizations anciennes et médiévales, Bibliothèque Orientale, l'Université Saint-Joseph, Beirut, and the second at the Department of Philosophy, The University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan.

Prof. Nadim Obeid is a distinguished leader, locally and globally, at the Department of Computer Information Systems, King Abdullah II School for Information Technology, The University of Jordan. He has more than 80 publications including Indexed (in Web of Science/JCR, Scopus Q1/Q2), International Scientific Journal Papers, Chapters in Springer Books Series/Books, Chapters in International Publishers Books, Refereed International Conferences Proceedings Indexed in Web of Science, IEEE and/or, DBLP and/or Web of Science, Refereed International Conferences Proceedings.

His research grants include 1989 European Economic Community Grant 3303, 1988 ESRC Grant, R000231279. He is also the winner of many awards and Study Grants and has a passion for philosophy.

​The group will also benefit from the expertise of Prof. Amineh Hoti of the University of Cambridge: a highly accomplished and award-winning Global Program Director and Manager. She has over 20 years of experience leading interfaith dialogue, conflict mediation, and community engagement throughout the world. An accomplished Social Anthropologist, she has served as a peace studies director, professor, and researcher for more than two decades and has extensive leadership experience on several continents. A visionary and compassionate leader in the field of conflict resolution and interfaith dialogue, Prof. Hoti has an unwavering commitment to peace through grassroots initiatives, humanitarian efforts, and community-building.

Our group's research is further enriched by the involvement of Prof. Ridwan Al-Sayyid; the winner of the King Faisal International Prize 2017 for Islamic Studies, and Winner of Al-Khwarizmi Award 1998 for the best scientific contribution in the field of Islamic Studies. Currently, he is the Dean of the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research College at Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, UAE and Honorary Professor at the School of Arts, The University of Jordan.

Prof. Muslih Najjar, Professor of Arabic and literary criticism at the Hashemite University, was a director of the Regional Centre for Human Security in Jordan. He is active in research on the subject of human security and formed a team that produced a study entitled “Human Security of Academics in Jordan" in 2022.

Prof. Muhammad Qudah, Professor of Arabic Language and literature, worked on current trends in human sciences and related comparative studies that cover issues such as identity, language, security and culture.

The research interests Dr. Tahani Khatib include Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence and ML algorithms, cognitive science, consciousness theory, and epistemology. These areas of interest fall within the research theme of our group.

​The collective efforts of these esteemed Professors and other committed and aspiring members of our research group will contribute towards enhancing and influencing research in aspects of human security and digitization.
