Dr. Amal Abu Anzeh Featured in TV Interview on Alternatives to Custodial Sentences

We are proud to share that Dr. Amal Abu Anzeh, Associate Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Jordan and a member of the Justice Beyond Borders: International Crimes and Accountability group, was recently featured in a televised interview on "Youm Jadeed" to discuss alternatives to custodial (prison) sentences.

Joined by Dr. Firas Al-Hubais, Head of the Department of Psychology at the University of Jordan, the interview explored the legal and psychological perspectives surrounding non-custodial measures and their potential to enhance rehabilitation, reduce prison overcrowding, and align criminal justice systems with human rights principles.

Dr. Abu Anzeh addressed the legal basis for alternative sentencing within both Jordanian and comparative legal systems, emphasizing the need for reforms that support restorative justice and social reintegration. Dr. Al-Hubais provided valuable insights into the mental health impacts of incarceration and the benefits of community-based approaches.
