Dr. Amal Abu Anzeh Represents Jordan at Regional Workshop on Women and Girls with Disabilities in the Arab Region

Dr. Amal Abu Anzeh, Associate Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Jordan’s Faculty of Law and a member of the Justice Beyond Borders: International Crimes and Accountability group, represented the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at a high-level regional workshop titled “The Situation of Women and Girls with Disabilities in the Arab Region.” The workshop took place on Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Royal Cultural Center in Cairo, Egypt.

Organized by the Arab Women Organization, the event brought together distinguished academics, legal experts, and representatives from Arab countries to present and discuss national reports on the rights, status, and challenges faced by women and girls with disabilities.

Dr. Abu Anzeh delivered the national report on Jordan, highlighting key findings, policy progress, and remaining legal and institutional gaps concerning disability rights, with a special focus on gender-based vulnerabilities and protections within the Jordanian legal framework.

The workshop served as a platform for exchanging insights and formulating regional recommendations. It concluded with a general discussion and the official announcement of strategic recommendations aimed at enhancing inclusion, legal protection, and development for women and girls with disabilities across the Arab region.

Dr. Abu Anzeh’s participation underscores the research group’s commitment to advancing intersectional justice and contributing to inclusive legal reform both nationally and regionally.
