About:

Dr. Hani Samawi is a tenured Full Professor in Biostatistics and Interim Chair of the BEES department at Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health College at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Samawi received both MSc and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, USA.

 
Dr. Samawi brings about 28 years of experience teaching statistics and biostatistics undergraduate and graduate courses, research in several biostatistical areas, statistical consultation, and being an academic administrator. In addition, he became a fellow of the Institute for Interdisciplinary STEM Education, invited editor for the special issue of the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Child Health and Human Development. In July 2019, he became the interim chair of the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Environment Health Sciences (BEES). Recently, he was elected as a Section Councilor in the Applied Public Health Statistics Section at APHA for three years.
 
Dr. Samawi's research areas are medical diagnostics, Sampling surveys, Bootstrap and Resampling Methods, Parametric and Nonparametric Inference for complete and missing data, Monte Carlo Methods, MCMC Methods, Secondary Data Analysis, Inference for Randomized Clinical Trials, inference under progressive censored data, Meditation Analysis for different types of modeling, latent class Models, medical diagnostics measure and inference and linear and generalized linear models with misclassification.
