Resources

The Colorimetry in Dentistry research group leverages institutional, laboratory, and digital resources that enable calibrated color research, clinical translation, and education. These assets are provided through the University of Jordan (UJ), Jordan University Hospital, and sector partners.

1) Institutional and Library Access

University of Jordan & Jordan University Hospital
Full-text access to major publishers and databases supports comprehensive reviews, protocol design, and citation tracking:

  • Elsevier (ScienceDirect), Wiley, SpringerLink, Taylor & Francis, Nature Portfolio
  • Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed

2) Core Laboratory & Imaging Infrastructure

  • ISO-controlled lighting booth (D50/D65 options) for standardized shade evaluation
  • Dental spectrophotometer/portable colorimeter with calibration tiles
  • Standardized photography rig (DSLR/mirrorless, macro lens, ring/dual flash, gray card)
  • CAD/CAM and milling access (via UJ/sector partners) for controlled specimen fabrication
  • Surface finishing & aging: polishing systems, thermocycling/immersion protocols, controlled abrasives
  • 3D printing workflows (through private-sector partners) for research components and mock-ups

3) Scientific Databases, Registries, and Reporting Standards

  • Databases: Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science for exhaustive searches and bibliometrics
  • Registries: PROSPERO (systematic reviews), clinical trial registries as applicable
  • EQUATOR Network guidelines for transparent reporting (CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, CARE)
  • Quality/assessment tools: AMSTAR 2; RoB 2 / ROBINS-I; GRADE (GRADEpro GDT)

4) Analytics & Statistics

  • SPSS and G*Power for descriptive/inferential analyses and power calculations
  • R / RStudio (e.g., metaforlme4) for meta-analysis and mixed models
  • JASP for frequentist/Bayesian workflows
  • RevMan and Rayyan for systematic review screening and synthesis
  • Customized scripts for ΔE00, TP00, WID, ΔL* computation and MCID analyses

5) Reference & Knowledge Management

  • EndNote / Zotero / Mendeley shared libraries with journal-style outputs
  • Notion / Obsidian for protocol notes, SOP versioning, and study dashboards

6) Data Visualization & Bibliometrics

  • Power BI / Tableau for dashboards (trial progress, data QC, color metrics)
  • VOSviewer and Bibliometrix (R) for mapping collaborations and keywords

7) Open Science & Data Sharing

  • Zenodo / Figshare / Dryad for datasets, code, and materials (DOIs; open licenses)
  • medRxiv / arXiv (as appropriate) for timely dissemination of preprints

8) Ethics, Integrity, and Transparency

  • COPE guidance on authorship, peer review, conflicts of interest
  • Retraction Watch Database for due diligence and teaching integrity
  • UJ IRB processes for human studies, imaging consent, and AI image handling policies

9) Collaboration & Project Management

  • Google Workspace / Microsoft Teams for real-time collaboration, data sharing, and manuscript development
  • Role-based access to shared drives; SOP-linked folder structures; authorship tracking (ICMJE + CRediT)

10) Sector & Implementation Resources

  • Khoury Dental: practice-based pilots for chairside shade workflows and technician feedback
  • Matest – Muhannad Al-Haj Dental Supplies: access to materials/equipment and logistics for multicenter projects
  • Private clinics (e.g., prosthodontics, digital dentistry/3D printing): clinical testbeds for translational studies

How these resources support our mission
Together, these assets ensure calibrated measurement under ISO conditions, rigorous analytics, reproducible reporting, and practical pathways to implement color workflows in clinics, labs, and curricula.
