We focus our attention on one of the most important environmental challenges: air pollution. We monitor the air quality by collecting atmosperic aerosls in two fractions (PM2.5 and PM10). We employ the state-of-the-art technology of partcle accelerators (e.g., electrostatic accelerators and synchrotron light sources) to perform elemental and chemical analysis of the collected samples. The main accelerator-based techniques include, but are not limited to, XANES, PIXE, RBS, and PESA.
