Dr. Mohammed Salem Atoum, the Head of the CS department at the University of Jordan, is an accomplished academic with expertise in cybersecurity and information security. He holds a PhD in Computer Science, specialising in Cybersecurity, from the University of Technology Malaysia. His doctoral research focused on developing an extended Least Significant Bit (XLSB) technique for MP3 audio steganography, enhancing security against attacks while ensuring optimal signal quality and data integrity.

Dr. Atoum has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and graduate levels, covering subjects such as Discrete Mathematics and C++. He has been a lecturer at the University of Jordan since 2022 and previously held positions at Irbid National University, including Chair of the Computer Science Department.

His research interests lie in cybersecurity, information security, and network security. He has contributed to various international journals and conferences, with notable publications in 5G-enabled IoT security, data mining for health analytics, and sentiment analysis using machine learning.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Atoum is an active member of professional bodies, such as the Cybersecurity Committee and Strategy Committee in the Computer Science Department. He has also obtained certifications in CCNA, Blockchain Professional, and CEH, showcasing his commitment to professional development and expertise in cybersecurity technologies.
