Maha Rashed Gains Hands-On Training in Mass Spectrometry Data Processing and Metabolite Identification

Research Assistant Maha Rashed recently participated in the Clinical Applications of Mass Spectrometry 2024 workshop, held from December 15–19, 2024, at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

During the workshop, Maha received hands-on training on the essential steps involved in mass spectrometry (MS) raw data processing and metabolites identification. This practical experience provided her with advanced skills to handle MS data, enhancing her expertise in metabolomics and its clinical applications.

The training covered essential topics as;

  1. Mass spectrometry principles
  2. Chromatography data analysis
  3. Method validation and optimization
  4. Data processing and analysis software
  5. Peak detection and integration
  6. Data visualization and reporting using Progenesis QI Software.
  7. Data interpretation with Human Metabolome Database.

    Maha's training marks a significant achievement, reflecting the research group's commitment to fostering professional development and advancing expertise in cutting-edge analytical techniques.
