​Byun Young-man translated and published The three gigantic forces of the World in 1908. He informed that he translated the work of『美國 斯密哥德文(American Simi Gede wen).』In this study, I will make clear there is a Chinese version of『世界三怪物(The three gigantic forces of the World)』(1902) between Byun Young-man`s work and the American author`s work. In other words, Byun Young-man translated the Chinese version of『世界三怪物』 into Korean. And the Chinese translator Li Yu(李郁) translated Commonwealth or Empire(1902), the English historian and professor, Goldwin Smith`s work. Through the comparison and analysis of the three texts, I hope to show why Byun Young-man wanted to translate this work at the time and what he wanted to tell to his people through this book.​
