​Professor Ali S. Alshami is an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of North Dakota, with extensive experience in polymeric and biomimetic membranes, gas separation, water purification, and biomaterials. He earned his B.Sc., M.S., and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Washington State University. Prior to joining academia, he spent over a decade in industrial R&D roles in chemical manufacturing and processing. He has established a membranes research laboratory at UND, focusing on material interfacial phenomena, membrane formation and fouling, and integrated separation processes. Professor Alshami has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, filed patents, and was awarded the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for 2024–2025, reflecting his international recognition and contributions to chemical engineering research and education.​
