Abstract:

The Energy Scheduling Problem (ESP) focuses on optimizing the operation schedules of smart home appliances according to electricity pricing schemes. This involves adjusting appliance operation times across various periods to minimize costs and the Peak-to-Average Ratio (PAR) while improving user comfort. The Multiverse Optimization Algorithm (MVO) is applied in this study to solve the ESP and determine an optimal scheduling strategy for smart home appliances. Additionally, a renewable energy source (RES) based on a PV system is integrated to further enhance the scheduling process by supplying energy to the smart home, particularly during peak demand periods. The results highlight the effectiveness of the RES in lowering electricity costs and improving user satisfaction. Moreover, the MVO is compared to the wind-driven optimization algorithm, with MVO demonstrating superior performance in achieving ESP objectives.
