Al-Khadraa International Sculpture Symposium

The Al-Khadraa International Sculpture Symposium, in its third edition, is a prominent artistic and cultural event that reflects global cultural and creative diversity. Organized by the Al-Khadraa Sports Team, affiliated with Al-Mudhaibi Club in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the symposium took place from December 26 to January 8, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, and under the supervision of the Governor's Office of North Al Sharqiyah.

The symposium featured sculptors from 13 countries, including Russia, Japan, Iraq, India, Argentina, Egypt, Spain, Iran, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey, Poland, and Macedonia, along with participants from the Sultanate of Oman and Jordan, presenting new and outstanding works of art that reflect the richness of the global cultural scene.

Mohammed bin Salem Al-Rashdi, President of Al-Khadraa Sports Team, emphasized that this event strengthens Oman's position as a tourist, cultural, and artistic destination, contributing to the promotion of the country through the impressions and experiences of international participants, who will convey their views on Oman to their home countries.

Al-Rashdi also pointed out that the symposium continues the success achieved by the previous two editions, significantly helping to establish Oman as a global center for sculpture and fine arts. The event provides a dynamic space for cultural and artistic dialogue among nations, while contributing to the exchange of knowledge and experiences among sculptors.

Since its inception, the symposium has led to the creation of 43 sculptures, displayed in an open-air exhibition in Al-Khadraa Bani Dafa village, Wilayat Al-Mudhaibi, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of sculpture up close.

The organizers also aim to establish a modern sculpture museum in coordination with the relevant authorities, to become a unique cultural, artistic, and tourist landmark in Oman, reflecting cultural and creative diversity through the power of art and creative expression.

Participation details

The participation involved the creation of a sculpture that expressed the simplicity of Jordanian culture and its role in heritage. It is a marble sculpture measuring 2*0.70 meters.

Results:

The symposium significantly contributed to enhancing cultural relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the participating countries, providing a platform for sculptors from around the world to exchange experiences and insights. A total of 43 sculptures were created, reflecting a diverse range of artistic styles and techniques. These works showcased the creativity and artistic richness present globally. The event also helped highlight Omani culture through sculpture and fine arts, further establishing Oman as an international cultural and artistic destination. In addition, it facilitated knowledge exchange among participating sculptors, fostering mutual understanding between different cultures. The symposium also played a key role in raising awareness of the beauty of sculpture and the importance of fine arts in cultural expression, attracting numerous visitors and artists.

Recommendations:

It is recommended to further strengthen collaboration between the participating countries, particularly in sculpture and fine arts, to continue exchanging techniques and experiences. Another key recommendation is to accelerate plans to establish a modern sculpture museum in Oman, which would serve as a unique cultural and artistic landmark, reflecting the diversity of global cultures. Organizing workshops and training sessions for both local and international participants would also help enhance artistic skills and inspire creativity in sculpture. Additionally, increasing the number of international participants in future editions of the symposium is encouraged, to promote a broader global artistic dialogue. Finally, enhancing the media promotion of the symposium would help increase its visibility and establish it as a prestigious international event in the field of fine arts.
