At the end of April 2025, Dr. Ala’a Azzam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Jordan, conducted an academic visit to Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, Morocco, with the aim of establishing a scientific partnership between the two institutions in the fields of astronomy and space technology.

As part of her visit, Dr. Azzam toured the world-renowned Oukaïmeden Observatory, which is notably home to the TRAPPIST-North telescope, used for the observation of exoplanets through the transit method.

During the visit, Dr. Azzam met with Professor Zouhair Benkhaldoun, Director of the Observatory, and discussed opportunities for joint research collaboration. One of the key outcomes of this visit was the joining of Professor Benkhaldoun to the newly established research group founded by Dr. Azzam at the University of Jordan:
