Dr. Ala’a Azzam Discusses Historic NASA Launch in Interview on BBC Arabic

On May 28, 2020, Dr. Ala’a Azzam, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Jordan, appeared in a live interview on BBC Arabic to discuss the preparations for a historic NASA mission: the launch of two American astronauts to the International Space Station aboard the Crew Dragon capsule developed by SpaceX.

During the interview, Dr. Azzam highlighted the significance of the mission as the first crewed spaceflight to launch from U.S. soil since 2011, marking a major milestone in the return of American spaceflight capabilities and a new era of collaboration between NASA and private aerospace companies.

She elaborated on the advanced technology behind the Crew Dragon spacecraft, which is designed to be reusable and equipped with highly automated systems that allow it to dock with the space station with minimal human intervention.

Dr. Azzam emphasized that this launch represents a powerful example of public-private partnership in space exploration and sets the stage for future missions to the Moon and Mars.
