The Deanship of Scientific Research held an advanced workshop entitled “Scientific Research Ethics”, presented by Prof. Mamoun Ahram from the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Jennifer Muhaidat, Dr. Mayis Aldughmi, and Dr. Dania Qutishat from the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences.
The workshop began with an explanation of how to apply for an Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval at the Deanship of Scientific Research at the University of Jordan.
The workshop dealt with several topics, including the responsible conduct of research ethics principles, common and relevant ethical dilemmas challenges, data management, data fabrication or falsification, avoiding fraud, etc.
Besides, the workshop provided the attendees with practical steps to maintain ethical research practice. The lecturers held panel discussions for each group of attendees, and several case-studies and practical examples were discussed.
The workshop focused on raising researchers' awareness of the importance of scientific research ethics and the need to adhere to it, which would improve research cooperation and research quality. It is noteworthy that the lecturers hold a fellowship in Responsible conduct of Research from the University of California - San Diego.
This workshop is part of a series of workshops held by the Deanship of Scientific Research with the aim of developing the skills of faculty members and researchers in the field of scientific research.
